Christmas Candy Cupcakes

Jazz up cupcakes with cute candy decorations.



INGREDIENTS
2 1/4 c. sifted all-purpose flour (sift then measure)
2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. Kosher salt
3/4 c. (1 1/2 sticks) unsalted butter, at room temperature
1 3/4 c. sugar
2 large eggs
1 tbsp. pure vanilla extract
1 c. milk
1/2 recipe White Vanilla Frosting
Candy (see decoration suggestions below)

DIRECTIONS

  1. Heat oven to 350 degrees F. Line 2 standard-sized muffin tins with 16 cupcake liners. Whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.
  2. Beat butter and sugar with an electric mixer on medium speed until light and fluffy, 1 to 2 minutes. Add eggs, one at a time, beating to incorporate after each addition; add vanilla and beat to combine. Reduce mixer speed to low and beat in flour mixture and milk alternately, starting and ending with the flour mixture, just until incorporated.
  3. Transfer batter to prepared pans, dividing evenly. Bake until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean, 18 to 20 minutes. Cool in pans on a wire rack for 5 minutes, then remove to rack to cool completely.
