Matcha Green Tea Brownies
Deep down, I’m quite the brownie snob. I think being a _____ (certain food) snob arises from the fact that you’re really really used to eating good ones or you’re capable of making really good ones, better than what you typically can find. It’s not that I think I’m the brownie boss, but it’s just that I’ve eaten really good brownies before (rare) and Im really particular about the brownies I eat.
There are a few kind of brownies. Fudgy, chewy or cake-y. Personally, I cannot stand cake-y brownies. They just taste too much like cake but yet not moist enough? So, I will only eat chewy and fudgy ones.
I think the day before Open House, I was trying out some recipes I found online. (on a side note, i found one blogger who BLATANTLY plagiarized this poor Japanese on youtube WHAT) They really didn’t work out. One was really dry. The other was burnt at the top and undercooked in the centre which is a NIGHTMARE.

Matcha Green Tea Brownies/Greenies
- 1/2 cup (113.5g) butter, melted
- 1/4 cup (40g) matcha powder
- 40g white chocolate
- 1 cup (150g) granulated sugar
- ¼ tsp salt
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- ½ cup (75g) all purpose flour
- Preheat oven to 180 degrees Celsius. Line an 8×8-inch square baking dish with parchment paper.
- Melt the butter in a microwave/saucepan.
- Melt the white chocolate. (It’s better to use bain marie, but if you want to microwave it, it’s technically okay but you need to do it in 10-15 seconds blast (slow but frequent) or the white chocolate would be irreversibly crumbly and won’t melt.
- Add the matcha powder and stir till smooth
- Stir in sugar, salt, eggs and vanilla extract
- Add flour and stir until well combined.
